As it is assumed the reader is familiar with elementary chemical thermodynamics chaps. 2 to 4 have been somewhat condensed, and greater emphasis is put on the application of thermodynamics to metallurgical problems. The one major change has benn in chap.6, which has been given a new "profile", one of reactor design. The remaining chapters have been somwhat expanded in order to include some more recent processes and developments, and some obsolete material is discarded...
