The popular first edition of this book contained approximately 600 analyte/method summaries. This new edition contains twice as many new EPA-approved methods for testing and analyzing industrial chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, dioxins, and PCBs and is a printed version of the EPA's Sampling and Analysis Methods Database.
Each analyte/method summary contains all of the information required to stand alone as a reference. Thus, in addition to a brief summary of each method, descriptions include required instrumentation, interferences, sampling containers, preservation techniques, maximum holding times, detection levels, accuracy, precision, quality control requirements, EPA reference, and, when available, EPA contacts with phone numbers. Each summarized report is a "stand-alone" document.Compilation of EPA's sampling and analysis methods [texte imprimé] / Lawrence H. This book provides the basic knowledge in sample collection, field and laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), sample custody, regulations and standards of environmental pollutants. The text covers sample collection, preservation, handling, detailed field activities, and sample custody. It provides an overview of the occurrence, source, and fate of toxic pollutants, as well as their control by regulations and standards. Environmental Sampling and Analysis for Technicians is an excellent introductory text for laboratory training classes, namely those teaching inorganic nonmetals, metals, and trace organic pollutants and their detection in environmental samples.Note de contenu : Summary :
1. Collecting, preserving, and handling environmental samples.
2. Quality assurance and quality control.
3. Data quality and reporting.
4. Discussion of the analysed parameters.

This volume contains the proceedings of the international symposium on metals speciation, separation, and recovery, held in chicago, il, july 27 through august 1, 1986. The symposium grew from a belief shared by many environmental engineers and scientists that there is a need for a searching reassessment of current policies for and methods of managing toxic metal pollutants. These proceedings contain the three keynote and 26 scientific and technical papers presented at the symposium, together with a written discussion of each paper. By intent, attendance at the symposium was limited to approximately 100 engineers and scientists having research and practical interests directly related to the symposium subject; 123 individuals, including speakers, were admitted to the symposium. In consequence of the focused interests of the participants, and the relevance of the symposium subject to environmental protection, discussion and debate were vigorous.
In recognition of the wider audience concerned with metals speciation, separation, and recovery, it was decided to publish these proceedings. The editors would like to express their apprecition to the authors of the papers and written discussions.Note de contenu : In summary :
1. Crystallization and precipitation phenomena
2. Metals speciation: models and methods
3. Membrane and biological processes
4. Metals speciation: ligand design and kinetic controls
5. Sorption on surface oxides
6. Ion exchange separations
7. Metals recovery applications process research
